In a nutshell... Its an instant messaging program designed for gaming. You have your normal friends list (and friends of friends list), and next to their name, theres a logo showing which game they are playing.. If you click on them to send them a message, it says what game, what server, what teamspeak/ventrilo they are in, etc. Its really useful. You can connect directly to their game just from hitting 'Connect' in your chat box.
Another great thing is if you are playing a game that takes up the whole screen and you get an XFire message, you can just hit a certain button and the chat window will pop up over your game, so you dont have to minimize.. then you type your message, hit the button to return to the game, and keep playing..
There are various other things like a built in download manager, a profile that says how many hours of what game youve played in the past week and your lifetime, etc.
Its really cool and useful, i suggest you all get it.
