Well yeah, imo you can summarize that entire genre basically with 1 game... you might as well get guild wars and play with us..

I think genie, keim, solitaire, kissy, frezzn, and me all have it, and various other people... its $40 to buy and there is NO monthly fee.

Guildwars was cool.. but i never got that rush i got from SC, D2, SWG, or even when i first started playing WoW (which didn't last long).

SC = Greatest RTS
D2 = Greatest RPG
SWG = Greatest MMO

D2 and SWG both suffered from the same problems in the end. They changed the entire game, and didn't fix stuff fast enough.

And before someone says it. I say SWG is better than WoW for about a dozen reasons. Mainly though, the social aspect and people playing. WoW doesn't remotely compare.

...back to topic :roll:

Just heard that DnD-online isn't going to be in Faerun, just can't udnerstand it. They have prolly one of the (or even the) greatest "worlds" ever created, so full of lore and all, and then they choose not to use it?
Why bother calling it DnD? IMO, it isn't the DnD-rules that makes it so good, it's the world they have created.
Bah, fucking retards, now I won't even bother to look it up at all..

The Forgotten Realms (Faerun, Maztica, Zakhara, Kara Tur) is just one of the D&D worlds. Sure, it's the most "classic" and popular one with superheroes like Drizzt or Elminster and supervillains like Artemis or Manshoon. Still, there are other worlds which are also popular - like Greyhawk ("default" world used in D&D rulebooks), Dragonlance, Ravenloft... and the new, quite interesting Eberron, where D&D Online takes place. Being a fan of FR, I'm also a bit disappointed but D&D =/= Forgotten Realms, guys.

As for Eberron, I don't know if you're familiar with this world since it's pretty new, but it also offers countless possibilities. You just won't see the old friends from FR novels but don't disqualify Eberron before even actually seeing the game.

It was predictable D&D Online wouldn't be in FR, knowing the current WotC policy.

Well, doesn't matter how good Eberron will be, I would still rather play a game in faerun.

And I played the awful game ToEE, after that I just can't stand Greyhawk either, heh..
(I know it's wrong to blame Greyhawk 'cause of that crappy game, but it's just so like me to do just that.)

I'm not into DnD as much as you Dar, so I never even heard of those other DnD-worlds you mentioned, Maztica, Zakhara, Kara Tur, are there any games for those?

those are all different regions of faerun.

like kara tur would be equivalent to Oriental Adventures for grayhawk.

its the "asian" themed place.

those others i think maztica = aztecish? and the other would be like middle eastern themed i'd guess

Heh, ok! i just managed to prove how small my knowledge of DnD actually is :D
As I said tho, most of my encounters with Faerun comes from games and most of'em takes place on the Sword coast :)

.. and BG2, and Icewind Dale I & II, and Neverwinter Nights. They weren't actually right on the sword coast, but in adjacent, similar, areas.
