Damage Report

So the site went down for about 14 hours thanks to our lovely hosting company...I guess they were moving servers to a new location. I've been watching their status page and boy are people pissed, since some people use dreamhost for business websites and stuff. I guess dreamhost thinks it is ok to only make mention of upcoming downtime by posting it on their status page, rather than sending out an e-mail to their users, so most people didn't know about it.... That's just a lousy business practice if you ask me, because they already have a newsletter that they send to customers, so how hard could it be to send out a warning of a planned 12 hour downtime??

More downtime today...ugh, dreamhost is the worst....

Yeah I noticed that, no harm done though.

Well, I would also be pissed of at them if I had a business site hosted on their servers. Downtime means loss of income, so I think dreamhost prolly need to do as you say, send out mails with news 'boot any planned downtimes. If not everyone will choose another host, heh.. I hope they are cheap though

yeah, they are really cheap, that's why they don't have things like backups to keep websites up when there is an issue, but it doesn't matter much for this site, it's just annoying...
