Genie's Quickguide to Returning to SWG

Post by Genie »

Im giving you guys this info incase any of you decided to try returning to SWG.

First, if you never logged into the NGE system, you'll get a window telling you to respec. If you were cl80 PreNGE and had a full template toon, you do NOT want to respec. Open yer inventory window and locate yer respec toolkit. It should have a number on it telling you what level you'll rspec to. If that is higher then 80, use a charge off of it instead of the intial login respec. Trust me, this is well worth it, especially if it says like level 88 (as my friends toon, Arwin had, shes a level 88 commando now)

The NGE should not be taken lightly. Even though most of you may think it is a dumbed down version of the game, and it may be, its more fast paced and you can and almost will die a lot of the times, especially if you have the mindset from the original game/CU. the AI in this game is very difficult to get a handle on mainly cause yer not gonna be able to tank very well and the mobs will move out of yer range. Melee toons are the hardest to fight with as things like to run away.

Specials cannot be spammed as easily, some of yer specials are higher level versions of lower ones and theres not a whole lot of variety. Most toons have 3 various attack types. A snare, a damage and some sorta dot. Some toons have more dots then others (Like bounty hunters, who have a flames, bleeds, snares) Some classes have no dots, like Jedi, but have other abilities.

Those of you with Jedi toons, be wary. Most of what you knew about Jedi sucks now. For exmaple, force run is a 15 second buff. it has a 45 second recharge. Force cloak is back, and its useful, however you cannot move for 3 seconds before you try using it, and it can drop whenever anything comes close to you. It is handy for dropping aggro though. Mind trick is another method of dropping aggro and the main reason im saying stuff about these specials is that for you, they are -very- important. The jedi robes grant resistances protection and they got either an offensive buff for an hour or a defense buff. Sabers arent anything special anymore, as you dont need much experimentation to cap one, and pearls arent anything huge. Most damage you can get would be flawless with 21-22 max per pearl. Colored crystals give a set amount of damage, even though the damage type varies per color and some of the special crystals deal more (Like you elder jedi get the elder jedi crystal, which would add like 33 damage in an old republic hilt.) Jedi also get sweep attacks, which are 5m area attacks centered on the jedi. Choke is the best snare in the game, it lasts 15 seconds with a 15 second recharge and slows the mobs to almost a standstill. Most mobs that run away usually stop running when you apply this. Lightning is a joke, force throw is a joke cept its recharge is fast and you can throw any melee weapon.

I dont know much about the other toons, but im sure some of the other guys like clad or keim can let you know how to run those. keim plays a spy and does wicked good with her.
